About

To me, it’s about preservation. There’s history in these things; as much as there is in any other antiquity. Someone has to remember all of this, and it might was well be me.

Commander Tim is the personification of retro gaming. A self-professed obsessive/compulsive for all thing classic gaming related, Tim is considered by his peers to be a walking encyclopedia of gaming history. A veteran of the games industry, he has been a video game journalist since 2005. In that same year, Commander Tim co-created and hosted the groundbreaking podcast ‘The Widget: Games, Tech, Whatever’, which was eventually picked up as an affiliate podcast for the PC Gamer Podcast Network. During the run of ‘The Widget’, he also produced and hosted a short video podcast called ‘Tim’s Retro Corner’, in which the Sega Genesis episode was popular enough to be aired on G4tv in 2006. In subsequent years, Tim created and hosted ‘The Commander Tim Cast’, and has also been a guest on many podcasts mostly for the use of his encyclopedic knowledge of the subject of gaming, in addition to being quite entertaining (despite his protests otherwise).

When he’s isn’t playing, hoarding, writing about, taking photos of and dreaming about video game systems, Commander Tim can be heard weekly on GameHounds, where he dishes out his own brand of retro-justice. You can also keep up with his ramblings on his personal blog, located at CommanderTim.com.
