‘The Soul Still Burns’ on LIVE Arcade
Now here’s an interesting development. It seems that Namco Bandai have decided to take LIVE Arcade just a tad bit more seriously than they have in the past. Oh sure, Pac-Man Championship Edition is pretty fun, but everything else they’ve released is just straight dumps of old games. Never let it be said that Namco Bandai doesn’t know how to milk their franchises for every single cent; Capcom is the only other company that comes close.
But, I’ve got to hand it to them, they’ve given me some faith with this one. For the first time since the ill-fated (but I freakin’ love it) Space Giraffe, I find myself joyously giddy at the approaching release date of an XBLA title. SoulCalibur is coming to LIVE Arcade.
There’s no official mention if it is a port of the original System 12 based arcade version, or the VASTLY superior Dreamcast version, but a little common sense tells me which one they picked. Also of note is that there is no release date other than the mega-vague “Summer 2008″, but I’ll bet you a Hori Fighting Stick that it falls in line with the scheduled July 29th release date for SoulCalibur IV.
Alright Namco Bandai, you’ve captured my interest again. Let’s get SoulCalibur out the door, then I want you to immediately go back to your development studios and get to work on your next project; Soul Edge/Blade for LIVE Arcade.
Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

I still bust out my DreamCast occasionally for games of Soul Caliber with my wife.
I love that game, I’m almost more excited to see the original hit XBL than I am to see SC4 come out.
Don’t like fighting games that much to be honest so I wont be buying.
